Welcome to Bondi Beach, Sydney

Bondi Beach Sydney panorama

Famous Bondi Beach – you are already imagining sun kissed, bronzed Aussies swimming through the surf and having fun at this beautiful bay only minutes away from one of Australia’s largest cities.
Bondi has a beach culture all of its own combined with the sophistication of the city. Take a dip in the famous baths that join the sea or venture along the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk to experience some of the most spectacular scenery this side of the city, “sometimes the best things in life are free!”.

If the surf is a little daunting, take a dip in the Bondi Baths

Salt Water Baths, Bondi Beach, open all day

The surrounds are full of life!

Lets Go Surfing – Bondi Surf School has the gear, all you need is enthusiasm. ‘Slip, Slop, Slap’ (a beach going slogan in Australia) – Slip on a shirt, Slop on the Sunscreen and Slap on a Hat, you’re heading to the beach. The aftersun cafes and restaurants are dishing up spectacular fare, the Sunday markets are a buzz and the night life is pumping!

Our Suggestions:

  • A fab breakfast destination is the Three Eggs Café, check out the Bondi passing parade.
  • The trattoria-style North Bondi Italian Restaurant offers a more relaxed atmosphere than its sophisticated older sister Icebergs without losing any quality.
  • Bamboo Vegetarian Organic Café is just what it says – vegetarian and organic!!.
  • Check out Gertrude and Alice Café Bookstore where it is the done thing to read at the table and enjoy some quiet time.
  • Icebergs Dining Room and Bar has won 2 hats and has one of the prettiest dining rooms in Sydney to showcase their fine cuisine in an atmosphere of relaxed elegance adorning the cliffs of South Bondi, this is truly well worth the visit.
  • Nicks Bondi Beach Pavilion needs no introduction as it is in the middle of the Promenade, decorated with beach murals and serves up some of the best seafood fare on the beach.
  • For down-to-earth cooking with a creole touch try The Wet Paint Café it is a local favourite.
  • Now it’s time for ice-cream, you must try the icon that was introduced to me in the 80’s, the master has the best gelateria outside of Italy. Not to mention the Pizza, they are still winning awards. This master of 20 years really knows what he is up to at Pompei’s.

Night life in Bondi!! Here is a snippet of “what’s on” in Bondi.
Some suggestions:

The Tea Gardens Hotel in Bondi Junction offers 12 beers on tap, DJ’s Saturdays and live bands on Sunday. The funky, art deco bar at Circa Lounge Bar features comfortable lounges and a breezy deck out the back. Bondi Social is fast making a name for itself as the “in place” to meet and enjoy a cool drink at their cocktail bar.

Market Shopping:

Bondi Markets, the Sunday Market at Bondi gets packed, that means they are worth it. These markets are specifically where young designers display their latest fashion lines at prices that treat your budget well. You will also find trash and treasure with some antiques thrown in. Not much in the way of food to speak of, so that means more money to spend on clothes!

Nature Walks:

Bondi Beach, Sydney

Walk the sensational coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee Beach. Relax and enjoy a coffee or a cool drink in one of the cafes along the way. The track is rated easy walking, well marked and takes approximately 2 – 3 hours. Buses run frequently between both ends of the walk if you feel like a lift back.
