OPAL Cards are in use on public transport in Sydney since 2015. As of the 1st of January 2016 most paper tickets are no longer sold.
If you are planning to use Public Transport in Sydney you are REQUIRED TO PURCHASE AN OPAL CARD PRIOR TO BOARDING any public transport.
