Lakes & fountains in Centennial Park

Home to some of the best sporting facilities this country has, Centennial Park is 220 hectares filled with woodlands, lakes and cultivated gardens that provide walks, nature trails, horse riding, cycling tracks and an equestrian centre all in the heart of the city.Try this lovely restaurant/cafe as a perfect place to rest, dine and enjoy the scenery.


Royal Randwick Racecourse
is one of Sydney’s major racecourses for the gallops and a great day out. The race meetings are held nearly every weekend. You will have such a fun, Win or Lose.

Coogee Beach is another of the city’s famous beaches where you can enjoy the sun, surf and sand. Coogee to Maroubra Coastal Walk hugs cliffs and rocky outcrops of the eastern coastline and is a magnificent sight.  Enjoy a well-earned cuppa or a ‘cool drink’ at a beach side café or a nearby watering hole (Pub).

Things to do in the southern area of Cronulla and the Botany Bay National Park are included in this location as they are easily accessible from here.

This restaurant is located in a beautiful two-story sandstone building at the end of the Randwick strip, this is one of Sydney’s best value for money restaurants.

Suggestions for some excellent dining:

  • The Art Lounge Café is at the southern-end of Coogee Beach and has a relaxed comfy ambience, they serve a great weekend brunch using free-range eggs.
  • The Red Squirrel is a new modern-Oz eatery with Zen like surrounds that has a tendency for organic meats.
  • First Opening in1959, Eastern Sea Chinese Restaurant is a legend, the menu is a short story, it’s huge.
  • Seasalt Café and kiosk a few steps from Clovelly Pool heats up as summer heats up, serving breakfast through to dinner and is licensed. You will enjoy the choice of indoor or outdoor seating and will be rewarded with your choice.
  • If sophisticated dining is your call on the night, go to the Oceanic Thai this restaurant will not disappoint you.
  • The Randwick Two Rooms Restaurant has taken the new degustation menu, tapas menu and tasting plates by the reigns and is galloping with it.
  • Away from the beach at Kensington you will find well priced, great food and a welcoming atmosphere in the authentic Chinese restaurant Golden Kingdom Beijing House.
  • For coffee and dessert or simply a sweet tooth that requires satisfaction the Chocol’Art Café will comply, it was inspired by traditional European coffee houses.
  • Everyone loves an ice-cream, you can’t go past the Sugarplum Café and Ice Cream Bar for its extraordinary range of delicious ice creams.

Live:
The Cushion Lounge Bar set in The Crowne Plaza Hotel has sweeping views over Coogee Beach and is a perfect spot to wind down after a full day, get comfy on a cushion and sip a cool pre-dinner drink from the bar.

The Beach Palace Hotel opposite Coogee Beach is a huge Aussie Pub that is popular with surfies and backpackers. Live bands play regularly and the terrace is a popular spot in the summertime. You will find the Aquarium Bar located inside, it has a huge ‘aquavision’ screen to capture all the sporting action.

Don’t forget the Cronulla region for live music – it is worth the visit south, many big name bands play at the pub.

Theatres in the Eastern Suburbs: 

The University of NSW houses the Roundhouse and the Fig Tree Theatres check their listings and Showing for what’s on, you are sure to have a very entertaining evening.

Recreation:

The Coast Golf Club is a spectacular coarse by the ocean (you could lose a few golf balls if you drive too hard!) the round is very reasonably priced and most enjoyable. It is surrounded by the Randwick Golf Course and St Michaels Golf Club at La Perouse. Moore Park Golf Course and The Australian Golf Club are sure to test your handicap.

Museums:

For a southern adventure follow Anzac Parade to La Perouse and La Perouse Museum. Across the bay you will find Botany Bay National Park and Bare Island where some action sequences in the movie Mission Impossible were filmed. Check for opening and tour times.
The Discovery Centre has excellent exhibits about aboriginal culture and the natural environment of the island. These southern shores contain some of the nation’s most important historic sites. Botany Bay is the site of the first recorded European landing on the East Coast of Australia. La Perouse is named for the French navigator that set up camp here in 1788, arriving only days after the First Fleet had set down the British flag.
