Surry Hills has been revamped by the yuppies – Young Professionals that love to dine, thus, it and Paddington may be at risk of having too many restaurants, except that they continue to keep coming up with award-winning recipes not just in the kitchen but with the settings and service to. Enjoy the Village atmosphere of Surry Hills, take a walk along tree lined streets that were once home to the working class of Sydney just 35 years ago. The range of 19th Century Terrace housing that is in many instances completely intact from that era being an extraordinary feature of the Surry Hills district.

Paddington has over 45 Art Galleries in around the streets and lane ways. Getting to the Art Galleries go along Glenmore Road then followed by Elizabeth Street, Walker Lane, Albion Ave, Goodhope Street and Oxford St you will find more than you can look at in a day.
Add to that, many galleries, antique and book dealers in the neighbouring suburb of Woollahra, and you have one of the most densely populated areas in Sydney for art and antique shopping. Whist in Woollahra you find most of the antiques and art are in Queen St, followed by Moncur and Jersey Sts. However, just wondering around you will inevitably come across another gallery or antique store in a street close by. The Brett Whiteley Studio is in Raper Street, which houses many of the paintings of this famous Australian Artist. The Object Gallery presents new and old artists design and craft ranging from furniture, fashion and textiles.  

The Opera Centre: This place is the hub of all that goes into a production for The Opera House. You see first hand the costume, millinery, jewellery, and cobbler departments, as well as props being manufactured and sets being designed…it all happens here and quite often with rehearsals under way.

Moore Park Entertainment Quarter:

Recreation:

Being next door to the Entertainment Quarter and Centennial Park the list of recreational things to do is quite large and diverse, you can choose to participate or be a spectator. To name a few, there is Golf, Tennis, Netball, Cycling, Walks and even Horse riding so close to the city.

Paddington Market is Sydney’s creative cutting edge. Paddington showcases the very best of Australian contemporary art, craft and fashion directly by the artists and craft makers themselves. Opens every Saturday. Known as “Saturday in Paddington”

Moore Park Market located in the Moore Park Entertainment Quarter is well worth a look, they are huge, the many stalls surround the showring, enjoy the music and there is entertainment for the kids.
